Newport Digital announces Memory for HP B2000 Workstation

Tustin, CA -- November 12, 1999 -- Newport Digital announces 256MB, 512MB, and 1GB memory cards for the HP Visualize B2000 system. The memory consists of a single 278-pin proprietary Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM). The memory subsystem of the B2000 system provides low latency and high bandwidth. The peak memory bandwidth is 1.92 GB/sec. This peak memory bandwidth is roughly twice that of the older B-Class workstations. The B2000 uses 125MHz synchronous drams (SDRAMs). SDRAMs allow faster access and cycle times than Fast Page (FP) or Extended Data Out (EDO) drams that are used on the older B-Class workstations. The memory subsystem uses a novel clocking scheme that allows the SDRAMs to operate at 120MHz.

The B2000 has eight DIMM slots on the motherboard. The memory installs as individual DIMMs unlike the older B-Class that requires the memory to be installed in pairs. The maximum memory for the B2000 is 4GB. In order to address more than 3.75GB, the systems requires HP-UX 11.00.

Newport Digital memory has a lifetime warranty. Newport Digital provides documentation and support for installing memory in your HP workstation.
